HEARING A YOUTH'S VOWS,//
OPEN YOUR MOUTH FOR SOME SURPRISED "WOWS"//
ON PARDONS HE LATER PROFESSIONALLY ALLOWS

As a young boy, I want to do my parents proud
by having an intellectual manner but not too loud.
I want to cultivate the best assets
to win all of life's major bets,
and that's about as good as it gets.
I don't wish my parents worries and frets.
On my boyish behalf I'll be a responsible young adult
but not adulterated to be a dolt.
Nor do I want to spitefully revolt
against middle-class values my parents proudly hold.
I'll refrain from being a brat obnoxiously bold.
I'll earn as much money as income can hold
by cultivating a money-making profession
as a priest who condones a murderous confession
but stipulating indulgence of his harmless sexual obsession,
with a curtained booth concealing an intimate session
bargaining severe rules on physical possession.
